St. Trinity monastery, Kitaevska Pustyn

Archaeological researches brought researchers over to the conclusion about the considerable role of Kitaevo of ancient settlement in history of Ancient Rus.
The first local settlements probably appeared in III-I of thousand B.C., in the epoch of copper-bronze and early ferrous age.
An archaeologist Ertel' confidently pulls out a hypothesis about the origin of Kiev exactly from this place, and afterwards taking of the local name over Kitaev – Kuiv is Kyiv.
After a plunder and destruction of Kiev tataro-mongolian masses, Kitaevo, became one of places sheltering monks-hermits and long years rescuing them from invaders.
At the beginning of XVII v. large Monastery skit was founded in Kitaevo. In 1716 Kievan governor general, prince Golicyn, is build a wooden church.
In 1757 during a fire strongly suffered Sergievskaya church. In 1763-67 a stone two-headed temple is built in the name St. Trinity.
A tragic fate grasped skit after bolshevist revolution. Part of buildings was taken away already in 1921. In 1930 took away all territory.
A Сhurch and Monastery again set to work in 1990.

Remarkable also and nature of Kitaevо. Picturesque mountains create a natural boundary natural covering force from cold winds, a nameless brook, converted in XVIII age in the chain of ponds, gives refreshing coolness in hot days.
A cascade from five ponds is located in the deep valley of brook of Kitaevo, inflowing in a sleeve Woodbunk of the river Dnepr. Middle depth of ponds – 1,83 m.; maximal are 4 m. A dirt official road passes along ponds.
